The short version
Furmiliar Faces is a neighbor-first pet registry. We only collect what we need to help pets get home, we keep it tight and we never sell your phone number for ads. Read on for the details in plain English.
What data we collect
Depending on how you use the app we may collect:
- Email address
- First name
- Household block (neighborhood-level location)
- Optional house number (if you choose to provide it)
- Pet photos and metadata (name, breed, microchip notes and similar)
- Phone number when you opt in to SMS
- Device tokens for push notifications
- Geolocation only when you are actively reporting a lost pet (for example pinning where your pet was last seen)
SMS messaging
We collect your phone number when you opt in to SMS alerts at registration.
We use it only to send: missing-pet alerts within your immediate area, owner-finder masked messaging during active recoveries, and opt-in confirmations.
All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Message and data rates may apply. Frequency varies based on activity in your area, typically fewer than 5 messages per month.

How we use your information
We use account and household data to show you the right neighbors and alerts. Pet profiles power the registry and any active missing-pet flows. Push and SMS are only for time-sensitive recovery and account-related messages you have asked for. We do not use your data to build shadow profiles for unrelated advertising.
Who helps us run the service
We rely on trusted vendors (subprocessors) who process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — database and authentication
- Resend — email
- Twilio — SMS
- Vercel — hosting
- Mapbox — maps
- Cloudflare — DNS
How long we keep things
Pet records and alerts stay in your account until you delete them. Resolved alerts are automatically archived so neighbors are not looking at stale emergencies forever.
Your choices and rights
You can access and update most information in the app. You can opt out per channel (for example turn off SMS or push in settings). To delete your account and associated data, use the in-app account delete flow in Settings while signed in.
